Any major change~Typically it implies an end, possibly of a relationship or interest, and therefore implies an increased sense of self-awareness.

In this card death rides a wave that represents an elevation in status, showing death is a consciousness; leaving your personal consciousness behind to see yourself objectively.
Death is as much a part of the life cycle as the sun’s rising and setting. The water is symbolic of death being a cycle & a natural part of life. All of us face our immortality at some time or another.
